Biography

He was born in the city of Quetzaltenango Guatemala, his artistic career began at an early age. He moved to Mexico City and began as a sculptor of miniatures being influenced by his brother Rigoberto Batz an artist of plastic painting Graduated in Fine Arts, art academy in Mexico City, was his apprentice and student for 2 years.

In August 2002, Batz began studying in California and started his career at Los Angeles City College, the Valley College and LA Pier College, where he was taught by masters in the plastic arts. In June 2007 he obtained the title of “Associate Art degree” and in 2008 he obtained another degree in music education “A degree in music education”. After several years of artistic training and exhibitor finally transferred to the University of Northridge in California followed by a brief decision to change city, finally in the year of 2009 to the University of Las Vegas Nevada UNLV. Joel Batz returns to Guatemala in December 2010 for the tragedy of his mother and decides to establish in La Antigua Guatemala National Heritage of Culture where he exhibits street art for the first time. In the year of 2012 he opens his own “Galería del Color” together with his brother Marcos Batz.

A new beginning of inspiration and motivation that at the same time sharing experiences and techniques initiated a new phase as exhibitors in art, carrying out the sense of projecting teaching talent to others. In September 2014, the Casa Para Las Artes project Joel Batz started as a co-founder of Artists that has the initiative to support the emergence of new talents, creating spaces for artistic cultural development. Batz exhibits and teaches at CPA where inspiration and new style emerge being inspired by the Guatemalan culture. Today Batz enjoys a new era in the arts projecting his talent, style, and above all, all the inspiration he has taken from different cultures. Given that his greatest inspiration is life, being influenced by the vision of everything that moves and projects life itself, a realistic artist as surrealist expressing in each brushstroke a feeling of identity.
